A ballo voe was aen on he evening of Sep 16h, uricaria 2008 considering he proposal o change he By-Laws of he Norhern Virginia Phoographic Sociey. During he NVPS summer ransiion board meeing, was a moion o modify he definiion of a quorum ha was o be brough before he membership for a voe. The proposal was o lower he requiremen for a quorum from “no less han one-hird of he enire membership” o “no less han 15 percen of he enire membership”.
The reason for his recommendaion was o address he difficuly we had wih esablishing a quorum for he elecion of officers and for he changes o he Consiuion and By-Laws and he rules of Compeiion in May 2008.
Of he 133 paid members as of Sep 16h,2008, 60 ballos were cas by members in good sanding or who were curren wih heir dues, which consiued a quorum under he By-Laws of 05/20/2008. A change o he By-Laws requires a simple majoriy and 57 voes were in favor of he change, 2 were opposed and 1 voed presen. 8 invalid ballos were cas ha were members who had no ye paid heir dues.
