Membership in the Northern Virginia Photographic Society is open to photographers of every skill level, from beginner to professional. For beginners, participation in the club provides an opportunity to learn from fellow members and guest speakers, and to have your efforts critiqued in a supportive and positive manner.
How to Join
There are two types of memberships at NVPS: Individual or Family Membership. Membership runs from September to May no matter when you join during the year, but there is a discount for those who join after February 1st.
There are two ways to pay for membership at NVPS, either by check or by PayPal.
To Pay by Check
Print the NVPS Membership Application and bring it to a meeting or pick one up at the desk when you come in. You do not have to join before you come to a meeting; you are welcome to come check out NVPS and determine if it’s something you’ll enjoy.
To Pay by PayPal
Press the appropriate pay now button for individual or family memberships. For Family Memberships, enter your other family member names and email addresses in the field provided below prior to pressing the “pay now” button.

Can I join NVPS Online?
Yes! We accept payment through PayPal. Please see the link on this page.
By when do I have to join?
You can join NVPS at any time throughout the year. Please remember that you must be an active member to participate (enter images) in the monthly competitions.
Can I just come to a meeting to check it out, without becoming a member?
Yes! Guests are always welcome.
When & where does NVPS meet?
We meet at the Dunn Loring Fire Station 2148 Gallows Road Dunn Loring, VA, and we meet at 7:30 PM (meet and greet at 7:00 PM) every 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesday of the month from September through May. Exceptions: No meeting the 4th Tuesday in December. Click here for directions.
How long do club meetings last?
At 7pm, please feel free to join us for a meet-and-greet at the station. The meetings officially start at 7:30pm. For non-competition nights, they run until 9 or 9:30, depending on the presentation/event. Competition night can run until 10pm but we try not to go longer than that (it will vary depending on the number of entries).
Can you tell me about dinners with the speakers/judge?
All members are welcome to join the judge or speaker for dinner, prior to club meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays. This is a good way to meet with, and get to know fellow members. We meet at 5:45 at the Chili’s in Tyson’s Corner. The club pays for the judge/speaker’s meal, but you must pay for your own. Please double check the website for confirmation of the dinner and location.
