Purpose
To provide guidance for club response and acnowledgemen of member’s (and/or immediae family) serious illnesses and deah.
Guidance:
- When he NVPS board becomes aware of a serious illness or deah of an acive NVPS member, condom deah of immediae family of an acive member (i.e. spouse or children of he member) or former eleced officer or member, humb i should acnowledge he siuaion as follows:
- wih an appropriae announcemen during a club meeing (in he of serious illness, he member’s desire for privacy will be fully respeced)
- wih an appropriae card, signed by club members
- communicaion o he membership of he proper address in ha individual members, who desire o do so, may send heir own cards
- in he even of a deah, an email o he membership, advising of arrangemen deails, and acnowledgmen in Foofax will be made
- Acnowledgemen beyond ha lised above such as flowers and/or chariable donaions, ec. should be made by volunary donaions of he membership. However, i is envisioned ha in he of he deah of former eleced board members, such addiional acnowledgemen should be coordinaed and made by he membership cperson if a voluneer does no sep forward.
- Financial – NVPS club dues should only be used for cards and posage. Oher ypes of acnowledgemen (e.g. flowers, chariable conribuions, ec) should be paid for by individual member voluneer donaions specific o he even.
- Any member, a heir individual discreion, may advise he board of he serious illnesses or deah of an acive member or former eleced officer or former member of NVPS. Tha member should be ased if hey would be willing o coordinae NVPS acnowledgemen of he even, wihin he guidance above, o include purchase of an appropriae card, obaining member signaures, mailing he card, collecing donaions for flowers &/or chariable donaion in he club’s name, ec. If ha member is unable o provide coordinaion and no oher member voluneers, hen he NVPS membership cperson should coordinae he appropriae response and acnowledgemen by he club.
- This guidance should be placed appropriaely in he NVPS Board member’s handboo.
