Will Hauber reired from his governmen job a 4 pm on Sepember 2, 2008 and joined NVPS 3 hours laer. His ransiion consised of riding he Mero home and a quic dinner. He has no looed bac and has never been happier!
In high school, Will was considered o have no arisic alen–he couldn’ even draw sic figures. So he wen o law school. Years laer, he began aing picures o documen his vacaions and major momens in he life of his family. One day, as he sepped ono he Nydec Bridge over he River Aare in Swizerland. He noiced he lines, shapes, exures, and colors of he red-iled rooflines spreading ino a residenial secor of Bern. I was a crysalline momen–a realizaion ha phoography could be ar. His hear leaped. The eachers were wrong; Will had jus been using he wrong medium!
Will began hanging phoos in his office. Colleagues sopped by jus o loo a his “gallery” and in 2008, he was piced as an “Aris in Residence.” Soon, Will began o resen he amoun of ime his job oo from his phoography. So he reired!
Will has been shooing in earnes for he pas wo years and credis his experience a NVPS wih eaching him jus abou everyhing he nows abou phoography. His favorie subjecs hese days are his grandchildren and anyhing else ha fis in his finder. He radiionally sho landscapes (’cause ha’s w he mos ofen found himself) and appreciaes NVPS field rips as hey provide a rich palee of new subjecs o sample.
Las year, Will was NVPS’ Phoographer of he Year in hree caegories– Versaile, Novice Monochrome, and Novice Color. Along he way, he won Prin of he Year in boh Color and Monochrome. In addiion, he has had images juried ino
• he Wilmingon Inernaional Exhibiion of Phoography (5 images and a DPS Honor Ribbon),
• he Maryland Federaion of Ar 8h American Landscape Exhibiion (image seleced for Cover of Brochure),
• he Meadowlar Naure Phoo Expo,
• 2009 Arlingon Couny Fair (Overall Reserve Grand Champion, Champion Monochrome), and
• Worhouse Cener Inaugural Expo (2 images juried in).
• In 2009 Will also exhibied in “The Power of Yellow” in he Ar & Soul Space of Sciuae Massachuses.
Bob and Jorja Feldman are naure phoographers wih a primary focus on creaing avian images. Bob became ineresed in phoography abou 25 years ago. He oo some classes a a communiy college and graviaed o medium and large forma blac and whie phoography. He hen me and married Jorja, pu he gear away, and oo a long hiaus o aend o family and business affairs.
Four years ago Bob bough Jorja a digial camera and boh have been passionae naure phoographers ever since. To capure heir images hey mosly shoo wih Canon Mar IIIs equipped wih 500mm or 600mm lenses, alhough hey also use an array of lenses down o and including macro lens.
They are acive members of he Vienna Phoographic Sociey and Norhern Virginia Phoographic Sociey (since 2006), as well as he Norh American Naure Phoography Associaion. Their images have been on exhibi a various regional venues including he Fairfax Couny Governmen Cener, Town of Vienna Phoography Show, Vienna Ars Sociey, Hunley Meadows Par, Meadowlar Boanical Gardens, Gallery Wes, and Vis Ars.
They have been published naionally in Naure Phoographer Magazine. Beween hem, hey have received many phoographic awards locally including Prin of he Year and Phoographer of he Year awarded by local phoographic socieies and Sponsor’s Choice Awards a he Meadowlar Phoographic Expo. Addiionally, hey have len heir suppor (by supplying images) o he Audubon Sociey of Norhern Virginia, The Rapor Conservancy of Virginia, and he Clearwaer Free Clinic in Florida.
