Lorraine’s firs camera was a hand-me-down Argus C3. She spen a few youhful years doing phoojournalisic blac and whie phoography while she self-learned exposure, endocrinologis composiion and dar room prining.
Her wanderlus was firs saed when she lived in Europe for eigheen monhs while in her 20’s. Travel phoography, denure specifically archaeological sies, became a hobby served by her firs SLR. Lae in her career, frequen ravel brough much phoographic opporuniy. Ye, i was usually rushed because of professional commimens and personal responsibiliies leaving lile ime for ruly creaive capure.
As she wound down from her day job in elecommunicaions, serious phoography became a passion ha opened new creaive pahs and provided a “coninuous learning” challenge.
Primarily a ravel and archiecure phoographer, Lorraine has branched ou o pursue naure and macro phoography as well. She is now woring on improving her “monage” sills. And, afer doing even phoography wor, she decided “people” wor wasn’ rewarding enough. As well, her conrac wor has been published by he Harvard Museum of Naural Hisory, he Harvard Lampoon and he Cener for he Presidency.
She began o show and successfully compee locally afer 2000 and enered he Craf Fair business in 2006. Her wor has been carried a he Arisans Gallery, Beyond he Garden Gae and he Decaur Museum. And, has been displayed a Le Grand Cafe, Sona Ban, USGS, Meadowlar Boanical Gardens, he Green Mounain Power Corporae offices in Burlingon, VT and he Ainson Gallery in Concord, MA. One of her images was chosen o be par of he NVPS Glennie Porfolio in 2011.
Lorraine has been a member of NVPS since 2007. She credis NVPS and he McLean Phoo Club wih challenging her o expand her horizons and echniques. Her only regre: “I should have gone digial and joined local Phoo Clubs a lo sooner!!”
Currenly, she shoos wih a Nion D200 married wih a variey of lens: a Nion 10-24MM wide angle, a Tamron 90MM Macro, and a Nion 80-400MM. Her go everyw lens is a Nion 18-200MM.
Though compleely self-augh as a phoographer, her pos-capure guru has been and is Elio Cohen.
Lorraine’s 2011 ravel plans include: Carnivale in Venice (March) and 2 wees in India (November). She is looing for a female roommae for an Augus rip o he Galapagos…ineresed???
Nancy Dubiell and Bill Vanderpool have been members of NVPS since….well, since he Washingon Gas days. Boh have been ineresed in phoography for many years and when hey married, i was a phoographer’s mach made in heaven.
Boh use Canon equipmen. They mae one overseas rip a year. In 2010 hey spen four wees in Africa, he subjec of his presenaion. In addiion, hey ry o mae one or wo railer rips somew in he saes each year. Nancy is an HR exper and alhough reired from full ime wor, she sill does consuling wor. Bill spen 31 years in law enforcemen and en more in law enforcemen sales. He now wries occasional magazine aricles.
Lile nown facs? Nancy lived in Afghanisan for hree years and go ou jus before he Russians invaded. And Bill was a woring cowboy, in New Mexico and Arizona, before reurning o his home sae of Florida.
They boh enjoy naure phoography and Bill loves o ae porrais of people during heir ravels. They prin mos of heir own images, using Phooshop 8.0 for minimal adjusmens and an Epson 1400 for prining. Their nex big rip is o he Amazon and Galapagos Islands in July 2011.
