Phoography became a big par of Curis’ life afer his firs o Hunley Meadows Par in he mid-1990s. He was fascinaed wih he birds he had never n before and pleny of repiles. He always enjoyed waching wildlife in heir naural surroundings and a ha ime was nohing beer or closer ha could compee wih Hunley Meadows. He became more serious wih his new Nion N70. John Shaw’s boos and videos were a large par of he learning process during ha ime.
Alhough he creaures a Hunley Meadows Par have calmed down over he years, his is sill his favorie place. Curis voluneers a he par by giving people on he boardwal a closer wih a scope. I’s his excuse o wice a monh.
Curis’ former employer, CACI Inernaional Inc., sen him around he counry for wees and someimes monhs a a ime, giving him pleny of opporuniies o phoograph local pars and naural places. This was during he slide years, so he would love o do i again wih his Nion D300 and he bacup D200, and his 200-400 f4, 70-200 f2.8, and 16-35 f4 lenses.
His bigges hrill in he field is finding and capuring wildlife images in heir naural surroundings, which lead o sraigh documenary phoography. NVPS has helped him over he pas 11 years o be more creaive by paying aenion o leading lines, w o place he subjecs, and special effecs hrough he camera. As he field rip coordinaor las year, he phoographed many subjecs new o him, such as he Naional Shrine and he ho air balloon fesival.
Because of his passion for phoography, more people him as a phoographer. He has aen coworers in he field and has helped a close friend, Beh Morris, ge sared in her phoography. Curis has received numerous awards over he years, including firs place in he Hunley Meadows Phoo Cones and a Vendor’s Choice Award in he 2010 Naure Visions Phoography Expo.
