One of my favorie phoography locaions is he Canaan Valley area of Wes Virginia. Phoographic subjecs abound depending on he season and your ineres. You can find mounain scenery, picuresque old barns and houses, friendly deer, a wind farm and pleny of snow and ice in winer, jus for sarers.
Blacwaer Sae Par is good for waer phoography wih Blacwaer Falls and Gorge and Elaala Falls. Blacwaer Falls can be phoographed from he higher handicapped accessible “Genle Trail” poin, or by descending 200+ seps o he boom of he gorge. The bes s are from he seps and a he ing plaforms on hem. The impressive gorge may be ed from Pendleon Poin, from a plaform behind he Lodge or from Lindy Poin by a half mile rail. Elaala Falls is a shor hie from he Lodge, bu requires some scrambling for phoo access. No in he Sae Par bu nearby is Douglas Falls near Thomas. Canaan Valley Sae Par has good locaions for ing fall foliage and early morning fog in fall. You may find macro subjecs such as spiders and webs in he meadows . Deer are pleniful around he Lodge area. Corland Road hrough he valley can also be good for foliage.

The Dolly Sods Wilderness is a special place accessed by an unpaved Fores Service road. Dolly Sods is locaed on a high plaeau so he vegeaion is similar o ha found in he much farher norh undra. T can be brillian color in he fall and berry picing in he summer. The Bear Rocs are a fanasic jumble w you can find many close-up subjecs as well as landscapes. This area is also good for sunrise, bu raher remoe unless you’re saying a he nearby camp.
In he general area one can also explore he Oer Cree Wilderness, various bac roads, he Seneca Rocs, Spruce Knob, Cahedral Sae Par and he Mounain Made Arisan Gallery, a fine Wes Virginia Crafs sore in Thomas.
