Anna Gomez’s phoography experience has been winding journey of changing equipmen and subjec maer. She bough her firs camera, a Koda Insamaic, when she was 13 years old. As an ar suden, she ed he camera as anoher way o express her creaiviy. A 19, her faher brough her a fixed lens Canon from a business rip o Japan. Her faher-in-law augh her some basics abou aperure and shuer speed by shooing blac and whie film. Nex in line, a Nion SLR, was replaced wih an auomaic-focus Olympus IS-1 afer her daugher was born. She waned o capure hose special momens los during focusing. In 2005 she bough her firs hi-end poin and shoo digial; once again an Olympus, C-5060 wide zoom. Then, bac o an SLR in 2007, when Anna purchased a Nion D200. The swich o digial opened he door o becoming he Saff Phoographer for her employer in 2008.
Currenly shooing a Nion D700, Anna enjoys capuring many differen subjecs, from landscapes o absracs. Woring as a Digial Color Specialis and Saff Phoographer, her phoographic assignmens consis of shooing conferences, Congressional evens, Senae hearings, meeings, special evens, and saff porrais.
Anna joined NVPS (Norhern Virginia Phoographic Sociey) during he 2007-2008 year, and has won numerous awards from he club, including 1s place in he Enhanced Prin caegory a he 2009 End of he Year Banque. Anna was also juried ino he Meadowlar Show in 2009.
In he old days, Vivian Luu was passionae abou being in he picures insead of aing picures; his was especially rue afer a new do! She considered picures of her and her family and friends priceless.
When posing for picures, she was insruced o move o he righ a lile or o he lef a lile, bu she was never exposed o he language of phoography–composiion, design, deph of field, shuer speed, aperure, ec. These were words ha were no par of her vocabulary.
In 2005, afer joining a local Vienamese Phoographic Sociey camera club, Vivian purchased a Canon 5D camera. The new equipmen moivaed Vivian o become passionae abou phoography as a “phoographer” as raher han a “model.”
Vivian joined NVPS in 2006 and her phoography sills acceleraed. During her second year wih NVPS, she acively paricipaed in he club’s compeiions. In he hird year she received he Phoographer of he Year award in he Advanced Digial caegory and also received he Image of he Year award.
Phoography is one of Vivian’s hobbies. She enjoys phoographing naure, people, spors, and flowers. She loves o apply panning echniques o racing bicycliss and zooming echniques o landscapes and lighs. Capuring people’s expressions or emoions is anoher favorie subjec. Someimes Vivian’s creaive mind imspires her o urn ordinary images ino exraordinary ones by using Phooshop’s filers.
